  1. Always Advertise

If you do not advertise your garage sale, who will know it is there? While you can always catch the eye of a passerby, you want to make sure you advertise your garage sale in the paper, flyer, and online.

  1. Get Some Help

If you have some little ones running around the house, enlist them to help you out. You can have them place items on tables, put price stickers on the items, and even help you clean up. It pays to have some help and usually, all you have to do is spare a couple bucks or candy.

  1. The Layout is Important

Believe it or not, the layout of your items is important. No one wants to go to a garage sale and wade through a bunch of stuff. You should place larger items towards the road so that people are drawn in.

Always keep smaller and more valuable items closer to you and you can sprinkle all the other items in between. When you set up tables, make sure you space them far enough apart and always leave enough room for people to walk around.

  1. Coordinate by Price

You should coordinate all of your items by price as this will make things much easier. You can organize however is easiest for you, but consider placing quarter items in one area, dollar items in the next, and so on.

  1. Be Friendly

It pays to be friendly at your garage sale. Who really wants to purchase items from the neighborhood grump? As your customers approach, make sure to greet them and always wish them a great day as they leave. Of course, don’t forget to thank them for their purchase.

If you are preparing to have a garage sale, the above five tips can help you make the most out of it and be successful.
